Frequently asked questions before booking a Hamburg bike tour

In General

Where do we start?

All open tours start at our office in Bernhard-Noch-Str. 89-91 in St. Pauli. We do only meet somewhere else if we declared it explicitly in advance.
Please be there about 10 min prior at our meeting point, so we can start our guided tour on time.

What shall I bring with?

You need an official photo ID to rent from us – sorry, no exception. We will check and notice your ID number in the rent contraction.
We do not accept renting against pledge.

What shall I wear?

We recommend you clothing, which is comfortable and allows you to move. You don’t need any special clothes. But since weather in Hamburg can be very moody sometimes and windy along Elbe, it’s always a good idea to wear weatherproofed clothing.

What happens if it rains?

Principally a reservation with us is binding. If rain is too heavy to cycle or not, this is often a matter of opinion and we can’t plan decently on that base.
But you can cancel your tour without fee three days before. Weather forecast is usually reliable enough within three days.
For private tours, we can offer you an alternative program. We often take umbrellas for a walk and combine our tour with public transportations.

Do you offer walks?

No. We only offer bike tours. We do what we can do best. That’s why we prefer focusing only on bikes tours in and around Hamburg to provide you the best service.
(Only if weather is too bad to cycle, we might go on a walk instead.)

Why can’t I book my tour?

We offer one regular tour with English speaking guides: Hamburg Compact. You can easily book it online.
All other tours take place on request. Just shoot us a message or call us!

Can we book a tour as a group?

Of course! Best way is to write us a message and we will get to you back immediately (Don’t forget to leave your phone number!).

Can we have a guide for our closed group?

Sure! We have a minimum price for private groups which depends on the requested tour. It’s mostly between 200 € and 220 € for 7 or 8 persons.

Can we start our tour at our hotel?

No problem at all. We can deliver your bikes to any place you want. Price depends on amount and location. Just leave us a message and we will send you a quotation.

Bikes

What happens if a bike gets broken?

For you safety we maintain our bikes regularly.  All bikes are equipped with puncture-proof tires, but sometimes a flat tire happens. Our guides have always tools with them to fix your bike en route. In case something serious happens, our guides can help you with a first aid kit.

I booked a tour. Do I have to pay extra for a bike?

No, all tour prices include a bike. You also get a basket and a helmet to lend for free if needed. You can choose your bike on the spot. We help you to adjust the right saddle height.

Can I use the bike afterwards the tour?

Sure! We give discounts for tours plus renting. It doesn't matter if you like to use the bike before or after the tour.

Can I bring my own bike?

Yes, no problem. Just let us know when booking. The price will be 4 € less.

Payment

How can I pay?

You can pay with cash, EC-Card, Visa or MasterCard. Around our office are at least five ATMs too.

Are there any hidden costs?

Nope. All prices are including 19 % VAT and are declared in our invoices. That means, companies can get the VAT back from the tax office.

Who gets the reduced price?

Reduced price for the tour Hamburg Compact is for all pupils and students with valid ID and owners of HamburgCard.

Boarding

Do you take a break on your tours?

Yes, we do. We always have a break on our daily tour Hamburg Compact. On private and group tours we have a break as agreed.

Can I bring my own food?

Sure. We take a break at a café or bakery, where there is also a place to eat your own food. No consumer stress at all.

Other matters

How can I gift a bike tour?

You can buy gift vouchers online.

How can I rate you?

We love feedback! Your feedback does not only helps us to improve, but it also helps us to keep on giving guided bike tours! So, spread the word and rate us on TripAdvisor and Facebook. Thank you!

Are you friendly to the environment?

We offer guided bike tours and bike rental as an eco-friendly way of city sight-seeing, but we need to use resources too. We use eco-friendly energy and preferably eco-friendly office products.

Do you get commissions from partners you cooperate with?

No way! We only choose restaurants, because we like them – not because we get money from them. We made this decision very consciously.

But we do support St. Pauli Archiv for their great work. Every booked Gentrification Tour means a 3 €-donation for them.

How can I work with you?

You can find our current open positions here in order to apply via email. Especially in spring we are looking for good people to team up for the coming season.
